Formally known as Magnum Ice Dance and Figure Skating Club, the club originated from Magnum Leisure Centre in Irvine in 1976. The Magnum ice rink closed in February 2011 and the club moved to Auchenharvie Ice Rink in Stevenston. The club has been a very successful club throughout its 40 year history producing some world class skaters, who have represented GB internationally. One of our coaches Suzanne Otterson skated for Magnum and represented GB at the winter Olympic games in 1992. We have an elite coaching team, some who are past skaters for Magnum, who have won British championships & international acclaim. In 2016, our 40 year anniversary, the skaters voted on whether they wanted to change the club name, keep it as it is or modify it, as we were no longer based at Magnum Leisure centre and the centre is due for closure in early 2017.  A landside vote was in favour of keeping Magnum but dropped the ice dance whereupon we became 'Magnum Figure Skating Club'. A new logo ensued and new website and facebook page. And a tagline to go with our name to inspire our skaters:

'MAGNUMfsc turning BIG dreams into HUGE achievements'.

We continue to be a very successful club with a record number of skaters of 11 in 2016, who qualified for the British Figure Skating Championships. With 2 of our skaters bringing back medals, Lucy Merrilees & Ruaridh Fisher.  And former Magnum skater Lewis Gibson won the senior dance with partner Lilah Fear.

We hold an IJS Open every year in March and two club events SSJ & showcase twice a year.

We welcome skaters from a young age to our newly revamped learn2skate programme that has proved to be extremely popular. We encourage our more experienced skaters to help the beginners and inspire them to be our champions of the future!

We are a friendly club and encourage anyone to contact us either by email, phone or by writing on any matter.
